Training for 2009/2010 Season
With UCDSAC it is possible to train from complete beginner right up to Examiner level! The club has many weekends away during the year, along with plenty of social events. From September to Easter, the main focus of the club is to train our new members. This year we will be running two courses for beginners.
Course 1: Commencing 22nd September 2009
Course 2: Cancelled
This is a break from our traditional approach and is to facilitate anyone who for whatever reason cannot make the September sign-up!
For those of you who already have a diving qualification with another organization you can be crossed over to our system by completing some paperwork and then continue training towards the next equivalent grade on the CMAS.
During the main dive season (March - October) we organise training for every diving level.
The main diving levels are:
Trainee Diver 1* - The grade awarded on completing our novice course. You must dive with a diver of a higher grade.
(Further courses available to 1*s; Diver Emergency Responder, Coxn Course, Club Diver 2* Program)
Club Diver 2* - The grade awarded after completing further tests. You can dive with divers of the same grade or above and may lead Trainee Divers to certain depths with the Diving Officers permission.
(Further courses available to 2*s; Coxn Exam, Rescue Diver, Advanced Club Diver, National Diver, Nitrox Diver, Gas Blender, Extended Range Diver, Search and Recovery Diver, Leading Diver 3* program)
Leading Diver 3* - The highest diving grade which is awarded after completion of an intensive course and fulfilling a list of pre-requisites. These divers are qualified to lead groups of divers.
(On completion of this course you may progress to train at the instructor (Mon) level)
With UCD SAC you can also train to be an instructor of any level. The club diving officer will canvas for applicants for these courses annually.
